ORIENTATION COURSE – 6 hours
This is your start to a career on the court. Trainees/Apprentices start with modified sports programs and fundamental motor skills and progress to modified tennis skills and games. Trainees learn the basic function and mechanics of all strokes and movement patterns.

The Development Tennis Coach is someone who is starting their professional coaching pathway. He/She already knows methods, techniques, and variations and he/she is skilled with a great supportive attitude. He/she can easily adapt to different situations with beginner to intermediate level players. The perfect assistant to a Head Pro.
The course aims at more specific knowledge and specific topics of tennis. The Development coach can be a role model for developing a positive mental attitude.

The Advanced coach is focusing on everything from instructing adults and groups. He/she is also now stepping into the higher levels of coaching and is frequently drilling and pushing the students to take the next step. At this point the Advanced Coach has to be able to play with all kind of students up to a competitive level. Passing shots, lobs and the essential knowledge of the return and serving game is fundamental. The course communicates how the coach can motivate a student to take the next step forward. It is the transition phase that leads to the next step, therefore, the Advanced Coach is one of the most important coaches for a student’s pathway no matter the age or skill level.

Competition is a clear goal for the Elite Coach. Of course, his/her work is still of a pending basis between beginners, children, and adults but the Elite coach is skilled in competitive drills, sprints, physical preparation, mental training, and nutrition issues. He/she can also use speed, depth, and angles are well aware of tactical and strategical game plans, and can teach offensive and defensive gameplans, stroke, and movement variations. The ability to play different spins and strokes is a trademark of an Elite coach. He/she can prepare the game and divide the court into zones and areas. It is though not necessary to be a successful player but the ability and fundamentals to understand what young players are going through is essential. The Elite Coach can also adapt and adjust to different players personalities and is educated in professional presentations.

To be a Master Coach means that the general performance and professional attitude is the name of the game. It fits into a Club & Academy leader or a team leader that could work under the name Head Coach. The Master Coach is well prepared, concentrated, and disciplined in his/her way of being and has learned to control structures and be clear and determined. Of course, the Master Coach should be a role model to all other coaches and his/her own playing ability skills are very high. Playing with the best juniors and international players should not be a problem.
SUBJECTS & TOPICS EXAMPLES
- Minimum of 10 years of full-time professional coaching
- Minimum 5 years as an accredited Level 2 – advanced – club professional coach
- Have successfully completed -worked – or employed as one or more of the following:
- Level 3 High Performance – Elite tennis coaching course
- Have a tertiary degree in sports science – coaching – physical education or allied course
- Delivered tennis coach education courses for more than 3 years.
- Have been the head coach at a tennis centre – club or facility for a minimum of 3 years with programs designed by you for beginner – intermediate – advanced – high performance/elite juniors and adult players
- As a Master Coach be prepared to deliver coach education on behalf of the AATC as required – mutually agreed to.
- To become an accredited Master Coach with the AATC submit a tennis thesis. This thesis should be able to be published.

This course is the start of your career as a pickleball coach. The goal of this course is to prepare participants to be able to introduce pickleball to new players in a way that is both safe and fun. Additionally, to improve some of their playing skills and understanding.

It is not tennis-specific and is about the development of the individual holistically who would like to take on a leadership role in life.Basic introductions to care and safety and group management are emphasized and a holistic approach to personal development is touched upon by the facilitators.
